Former Mayor Cleave St Jean comes out in support of new Portsmouth Festivals Committee

Former Mayor of the Portsmouth Town Council and member of the Northern Festival’s Committee has come out in support of the new Portsmouth Festivals Committee which has taken over the role occupied by the NFC for years prior to this year’s carnival.
Pouring cold water on critics who have reacted negatively to the PFC’s efforts at relying on local talent and a more structured approach to organization of the festivities, the former Mayor, described the event as “fabulous” expressing support for the use of local resources in the development of Portsmouth Carnival.
He ended by saying .. “ Let me tell you, it was something in Portsmouth today heh, It was beautiful.”
The Portsmouth Festivals Committee is an initiative of the Portsmouth town council in partnership with local stakeholders to formalize the development and organization of festivals and other such activities in the town of Portsmouth. Carnival 2017 is the first undertaking of the PFC
